Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Brisket

Trim excess fat from the beef brisket and place it on a large cutting board.

  2. 2

    Make the Spice Rub

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and smoked paprika.

  3. 3

    Season the Brisket

Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it's well coated.

  4. 4

    Marinate

Drizzle liquid smoke over the brisket and wrap it in plastic wrap. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for better flavor.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare Vegetables

Chop the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery into large pieces.

  3. 7

    Sear the Brisket

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.

  4. 8

    Combine in Baking Dish

Place the seared brisket in a large baking dish. Scatter the chopped vegetables around it and pour the beef broth over everything.

  5. 9

    Cover and Cook

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Cook for 3-4 hours or until the brisket is tender.

  6. 10

    Rest the Brisket

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.

  7. 11

    Serve

Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with the roasted vegetables and pan juices.
