Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add olive oil and salt, then gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while the dough is rising.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll or stretch each portion into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spread tomato sauce over the base, leaving a small border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, then layer with pepperoni, bell peppers, red onion, and oregano. Finish with fresh basil and grated Parmesan.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the pizza to a baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
