Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. This helps to achieve a nice sear. Rub the steak with olive oil and then season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Grilling

  1. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450-500°F (232-260°C). If using a gas grill, turn all burners to high. If using charcoal, light the coals and wait until they're covered with white ash.

  2. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the ribeye steak on the grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, or until it develops a nice crust. Flip the steak and grill for another 4-5 minutes on the other side.

  3. 4

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130-135°F (54-57°C). Adjust cooking time if you prefer a different doneness level.

  4. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
