Juicy beef patty with lettuce, tomato, and onion

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing as this can make the burgers tough.

Mix the Ingredients

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty approximately ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.

Form the Patties

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you can add a little oil to prevent sticking.

Once the grill or skillet is hot, place the patties on it. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until a nice crust forms, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If adding cheese, place it on the patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Cook the Patties

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomato and red onion.

Prepare the Toppings

Once the patties are cooked to your liking, place each patty on the bottom half of a burger bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion. Add the top half of the bun to complete the burger.
