Method

Prepare the Pickles

  1. 1

    Drain and Pat Dry

Open the jar of dill pickle chips. Drain the liquid and pat the chips dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Prepare the Breading

  1. 2

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  2. 3

    Prepare Wet Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until smooth.

Bread the Pickles

  1. 4

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle chip into the wet mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Then, dredge it in the flour-cornmeal mixture, ensuring it is evenly coated. Place the breaded pickles on a plate.

Fry the Pickles

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully add the breaded pickle chips to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Serve the fried pickles warm with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
