Preparing the Beef Patty

Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up while cooking.

Toasting the Buns

Butter the Buns
While the patties are cooking, spread butter on the cut sides of the hamburger buns.

Prepare the Toppings
Slice the tomato and onion. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves.

Build the Burger
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, slices of tomato, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
