Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Combine the Bread and Apples

In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and chopped apples. Toss to mix evenly.

  3. 3

    Make the Custard Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the custard mixture over the bread and apples. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts until everything is well coated.

  5. 5

    Bake

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
