Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, mix the warm water and active dry yeast together. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Transfer it to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Flatbread Cooking

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a baking stone or a baking sheet inside to heat up.

  2. 6

    Shape the Flatbread

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten it with a rolling pin into a round shape about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings (Optional)

If desired, sprinkle each flatbread with garlic powder, dried oregano, and sesame seeds for additional flavor.

  4. 8

    Bake the Flatbread

Carefully transfer the flatbreads onto the preheated baking stone or baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes until they puff up and turn golden brown.

  5. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flatbreads from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Serve warm.
