Method

Prepare the Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each. Cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness or until desired doneness is reached.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or skillet if desired.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheddar, slices of tomato, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then cover with the top half of the bun.
