Salad Ingredients

Pickling Mixture

Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Slice the Cucumbers

Wash the cucumbers thoroughly and slice them thinly. You can cut them into rounds or half-moons, depending on your preference.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Onion

Peel the red onion and slice it thinly. You can soak the onion slices in cold water for a few minutes to reduce their sharpness if desired.

  3. 3

    Chop the Dill

Rinse the fresh dill under cold water, then chop it finely.

Making the Pickling Mixture

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine the white vinegar, sugar, water, and black peppercorns. Stir the mixture well until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 5

    Heat the Mixture

Heat the saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Combining and Marinating

  1. 6

    Mix All Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the sliced cucumbers, red onion, chopped dill, and salt. Pour the pickling mixture over the vegetables and toss gently to combine.

  2. 7

    Marinate

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the mixture to a jar with a lid. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight for best flavor.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Salad

After marinating, give the salad a good toss and serve chilled. Enjoy your pickled cucumber salad!
