Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickle chips and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Water

Gradually add the cold water to the dry ingredients, whisking until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. The batter should be thick enough to coat the pickles.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Batter the Pickles

Dip each dill pickle chip into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.

  3. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the battered pickles in the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
