Method

Brisket Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brisket

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Rinse the beef brisket under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Season the Brisket

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it's evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Cook the Brisket

Place the brisket in a roasting pan and pour the beef broth around it. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 4-5 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.

  4. 4

    Rest the Brisket

Once done, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Side Dishes Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Collard Greens

While the brisket is cooking, wash the collard greens thoroughly and remove the stems. Roughly chop the leaves.

  2. 6

    Cook Collard Greens

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the collard greens, salt, and black pepper. Cover and cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the greens are tender.

  3. 7

    Prepare Cornbread

Prepare cornbread according to the recipe or package instructions. Bake until golden brown and set aside to cool.
