Method

Preparing the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Set Up the Dredging Stations

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  2. 2

    Dredge the Cheese Sticks

Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip it in the beaten eggs, letting the excess drip off, and finally roll it in the bread crumb mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Repeat for all sticks.

  3. 3

    Freeze the Mozzarella Sticks

Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to set the coating.

Frying the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully add the frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pan.

  3. 6

    Drain the Sticks

Using a slotted spoon, remove the mozzarella sticks and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Making the Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté the Garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, sugar, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 9

    Serve the Marinara Sauce

Remove the sauce from heat and serve it warm alongside the mozzarella sticks.
