Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking pan or cast-iron skillet with butter.

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

- 4
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool
Remove from the oven and let the cornbread cool slightly before slicing.
Bourbon Sauce Preparation
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, bourbon, and heavy cream.
- 8
Cook Sauce
Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Allow it to simmer for about 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- 9
Remove from Heat
Take the saucepan off the heat and let it cool for a minute before using.
Serving
- 10
Serve
Slice the cornbread, place a piece on a plate, top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and drizzle generously with the bourbon sauce before serving.
