Meatballs

Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, eggs, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, chopped basil leaves, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are baked and the marinara sauce is ready, gently add the meatballs to the sauce, ensuring they are well coated.

  2. 8

    Prepare for Baking

Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a baking dish. Dollop ricotta cheese on top and sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the meatballs.

  3. 9

    Bake the Dish

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the dish for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  4. 10

    Serve

Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Italian balls topped with marinara and a delicious three-cheese blend!
