Method

Cooking the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the Flat Iron Steak out of the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season both sides with blackening seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat your grill to high heat. Place the seasoned steak on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 5

    Bleu Cheese Topping

Sprinkle the bleu cheese crumbles over the top of the steak just before serving.

  2. 6

    Mushrooms and Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 7

    Add Mushrooms and Garlic

Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the mushrooms are tender and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 8

    Top the Steak

Spoon the mushroom and onion mixture over the sliced steak just before serving.
