For the Cowboy Candy

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Jalapeños

Wash and slice the jalapeño peppers into thin rounds, removing seeds if desired for less heat.

  2. 2

    Make the Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic cloves, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground allspice, turmeric, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved.

  3. 3

    Add the Jalapeños

Once the syrup is boiling, add the sliced jalapeños to the saucepan. Stir to coat the jalapeños in the syrup.

  4. 4

    Simmer

Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 5

    Cool and Store

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the cowboy candy to cool to room temperature. Transfer to a quart container and store in the refrigerator.
