Wonton Filling

Wonton Wrappers

Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce

Method

Prepare Wonton Filling

  1. 1

    Mix the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the swimming crab meat, cream cheese, chopped scallions, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is smooth.

Assemble Wontons

  1. 2

    Fill the Wonton Wrappers

Take a wonton wrapper and place a small spoonful (about 1 tsp) of the crab mixture in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it in half to form a triangle, and press the edges to seal. You can also fold the two opposite corners toward each other to form a small pouch. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Cook Wontons

  1. 3

    Fry the Wontons

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the wontons in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce

  1. 4

    Mix the Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, rice vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water. Stir well to combine. Heat over medium heat while stirring continuously until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
