Cocktail

Method

Syrup (if making)

1

Make rose simple syrup

Combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and liquid is clear, about 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon culinary rose water (or 1 tablespoon chopped edible rose petals). Let steep for 10–15 minutes, then strain into a jar and chill. Yields about 1/2 cup.

Cocktail Build

2

Dry shake (if using egg white)

Add the Ketel One vodka, St-Germain, fresh lemon juice, rose simple syrup and egg white (if using) to a cocktail shaker. Do not add ice yet. Seal and shake vigorously for 15 seconds to emulsify and create a silky foam.

3

Wet shake

Open the shaker, add a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup), reseal and shake hard for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and well chilled.

4

Strain

Double strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass (use a fine mesh strainer over a Hawthorne/mesh for a smoother texture).

5

Top and garnish

Gently top the drink with 2 oz club soda to add a light effervescence (optional). Express a lemon twist over the surface to release oils and rub the twist around the rim, then place it on the glass. Float an edible rose petal or a small rosebud on the foam for aroma and visual appeal.

6

Serve

Serve immediately while the foam is still fresh and aromatic.
