Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Turkey

In a large bowl, combine olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, thyme, and lemon juice. Mix well to create a marinade. Place the cleaned wild turkey in a large resealable bag or container and pour the marinade over it, ensuring the turkey is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the container and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. 3

    Prepare the Turkey for Roasting

Remove the turkey from the marinade and let any excess liquid drip off. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Tuck the wings under the turkey and tie the legs together with kitchen twine.

  3. 4

    Roast the Turkey

Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the turkey with its juices every hour.

  4. 5

    Rest and Serve

Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before carving. Serve warm with your choice of sides.
