Gnocchi

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Gnocchi

In a large bowl, mix ricotta, flour, egg, and salt until a dough forms. Knead gently on a floured surface for a few minutes until smooth. Divide into portions and roll into ropes. Cut into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Cook the Gnocchi

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop gnocchi into the boiling water. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until they float. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Bolognese Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent. Add garlic and sausage, cooking until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine and Serve

Toss the cooked gnocchi gently in the bolognese sauce. Serve hot, topped with grated Pecorino Romano cheese and fresh basil.
