Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt over a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Ingredients

Remove from heat and whisk in the sugar until combined. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  4. 4

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Marshmallow Whip Directions

  1. 5

    Prepare the Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, and 30ml of water. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture reaches a simmer.

  2. 6

    Whip the Egg Whites

In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form.

  3. 7

    Combine Syrup and Egg Whites

Once the sugar syrup reaches about 115°C (240°F), remove from heat and slowly pour it in a thin stream into the whipped egg whites while continuing to beat on high speed until the mixture is glossy and holds stiff peaks.

  4. 8

    Flavor the Whip

Mix in the vanilla extract and continue to beat for another minute. The marshmallow whip is now ready to serve.
