Fried Calamari Ingredients
Method
Fried Calamari Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Clean the calamari by removing the skin, beak, and internal organs. Slice the calamari into rings about 1/2 inch thick.
- 2
Marinate
Place the calamari rings in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 4
Heat Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Calamari
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Calamari
Fry the coated calamari in batches, cooking for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot, garnished with lemon wedges and fresh parsley.
