Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the olive oil and the activated yeast mixture.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly and Baking

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a circle (about 12 inches in diameter) or press it into a pizza pan.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

  4. 8

    Add Pepperoni and Oregano

Evenly distribute the pepperoni slices over the cheese. Sprinkle dried oregano on top for added flavor.

  5. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or on the pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Garnish and Serve

If desired, add fresh basil leaves on top after baking. Slice and serve hot.
