Method

Beef Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef with 1 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of black pepper, and 0.5 tsp of garlic powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, roughly ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Cook on Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  2. 4

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F and the cheese is melted.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bun

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, then the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with slices of tomato, pickles (if using), ketchup, and mustard.

  3. 7

    Finish the Burger

Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger and press down gently.
