Cuban Pork Marinade and Cooking Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, mix together the minced garlic, orange juice, lime juice, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. This will be the marinade for the pork.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Pork

Place the pork shoulder in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the pork, making sure it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  4. 4

    Sear the Pork

In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Remove the pork from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and sear the pork on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Aromatics and Liquid

Add the sliced onion, bay leaves, reserved marinade, and chicken broth to the pot. Bring to a simmer.

  6. 6

    Slow Roast the Pork

Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven. Roast for about 4-5 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

  7. 7

    Rest and Shred

Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes. Then, shred the pork using two forks.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the shredded Cuban pork with rice, black beans, or in sandwiches. Enjoy!
