- 1
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat.
- 2
In a large bowl, toss the frozen tater tots with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated. This helps them crisp and seasoned.
- 3
Spread the tots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. For maximum crisp, avoid overcrowding; use two sheets if needed.
- 4
Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges start to turn golden and crisp.
- 5
Carefully flip or press down the tots with a spatula to smash them slightly flat. Space them back out on the sheet.
- 6
Return to the oven and bake 8–12 more minutes until the undersides are golden and the tots are crisp all over.
- 7
Meanwhile, set up dipping sauce trio: choose any 3 sauces from ketchup, cheese sauce, garlic aioli, spicy ketchup, ranch, and fry sauce. Pour each into small bowls or ramekins for serving.
- 8
When tots are done, remove from oven, let rest 1–2 minutes, and transfer to a serving platter. Arrange the 3 sauce bowls around the tots for dipping.
- 9
Serve hot. Each guest can dip smashed tots into their chosen three sauces.
