Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Slice the onion and mushrooms. If using garlic, mince it.

  2. 2

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until soft and golden brown, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally. If using, add minced garlic in the last 2 minutes of cooking.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil and the sliced mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté until the mushrooms are tender and browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the Burgers

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Form the ground beef into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper. Grill the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  5. 5

    Add Swiss Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each burger patty and cover to melt.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the burger buns if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, place the burger patty with melted cheese, top with caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
