Fried Pickles & Peppers

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dipping Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together ranch dressing with a splash of buttermilk for a thinner consistency. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with a mixture of cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, and the last with beaten eggs mixed with buttermilk.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pickles and Peppers

Dip each slice of pickle and banana pepper first in flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the cornmeal mixture. Place them onto a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles and Peppers

Carefully add the breaded pickles and peppers to the hot oil in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles and peppers hot with the ranch dipping sauce on the side.
