Fried Fish Ingredients

Method

Fried Fish Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, mixing until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it bubbles and rises, the oil is ready.

  3. 3

    Fry the Fish

Dip each whitefish fillet into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the fish and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Hoagies

Slice the hoagie rolls open and place a generous amount of shredded lettuce on the bottom. Top with the fried fish fillets, then drizzle with tartar sauce. Close the rolls and serve immediately.
