Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Remove and Drain

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

  7. 7

    Season

While the fries are hot, sprinkle them with salt and pepper to taste.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the French fries immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.
