Method

Cake

  1. 1

Prepare the Oven and Cake Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cake

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Milk Mixture

  1. 8

    Prepare the Milk Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk until well combined.

  2. 9

    Soak the Cake

Once the cake is completely cooled, poke holes all over the top using a fork. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, making sure it absorbs evenly.

Lime Meringue

  1. 10

    Whip Egg Whites

In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form.

  2. 11

    Add Sugar and Lime

Gradually add the sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Mix in the lime juice and lime zest.

  3. 12

    Spread Meringue

Spread the meringue over the soaked cake, making sure to cover all the edges.

  4. 13

    Bake the Meringue

Place the cake back in the oven and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the meringue is lightly browned.

Toppings

  1. 14

    Garnish the Cake

Once the meringue is cooled, top the cake with sliced strawberries, chopped pistachios, and edible rose petals for a beautiful presentation.
