Meatballs Preparation

Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine ground veal, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, approximately 2 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Chill Meatballs
Refrigerate the meatballs for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Add Tomatoes
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finish Sauce
Add fresh basil just before serving to brighten the sauce.
Pesto Preparation

Blend Ingredients
In a food processor, combine fresh basil leaves, pine nuts, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, olive oil, and salt. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary.

Grill Bread
Preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat and grill the bread slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
Assembly

Cook Meatballs
In a large skillet, add the chilled meatballs and pour the red sauce over them. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.

Serve
Place meatballs on a serving plate, drizzle with pesto, and sprinkle crumbled goat cheese on top. Serve with grilled bread and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
