Method
Focaccia Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 6
Prepare for Baking
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and spread it onto a greased baking sheet, dimpling the surface with your fingers.
- 7
Add Toppings
Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped rosemary, and thyme on top of the dough. Drizzle with a little olive oil.
- 8
Second Rise
Let the dough rise for an additional 20-30 minutes.
- 9
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
