Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the cornbread.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Dish

Grease a 9-inch square baking dish or a cast-iron skillet with butter or non-stick spray.

Mixing the Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well incorporated.

  2. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the creamed corn, honey, milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.

  3. 5

    Combine Both Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing; some lumps are okay.

Baking

  1. 6

    Pour Batter into Dish

Pour the cornbread batter into the prepared baking dish or skillet, spreading it evenly.

  2. 7

    Bake the Cornbread

Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 8

    Cool and Cut

Remove the cornbread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, cut into squares.

  2. 9

    Serve with Whipped Butter

Serve warm with whipped butter spread on top, to taste.
