Method
Biscuits
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Add the cold unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add Buttermilk
Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 5
Shape Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 6
Bake Biscuits
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
Fried Chicken
- 7
Marinate Chicken
In a bowl, pour 1 cup of buttermilk over the chicken thighs. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- 8
Prepare Coating
In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 9
Heat Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 10
Coat Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let excess drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
- 11
Fry Chicken
Carefully place the chicken thighs in the hot oil. Fry for about 8-10 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Hot Honey
- 12
Prepare Hot Honey
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the honey and red pepper flakes. Stir until warmed through, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
