Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.
- 2
Heat Milk and Butter
In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter over medium heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm (about 110°F). Do not boil.
- 3
Combine Wet Ingredients
Add the warm milk and butter mixture to the dry ingredients. Add the large eggs and stir until a soft dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Filling Preparation
- 6
Prepare Filling
In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- 7
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches).
- 8
Spread Butter
Spread the softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough.
- 9
Add Filling
Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the buttered surface.
- 10
Roll and Cut
Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
- 11
Baking
- 12
Preheat Oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 13
Bake Rolls
Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Icing Preparation
- 14
Make Icing
In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, vanilla extract, dried culinary lavender, and milk until smooth and creamy.
Serving
- 15
Ice and Serve
Once the cinnamon rolls are baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Spread the lavender cream cheese icing over the warm rolls before serving.
