Chowder Base

Oyster Crackers

Method

Chowder Preparation

  1. 1

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, celery, and bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic and Spices

Stir in the minced garlic, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Corn and Potatoes

Add the fresh corn kernels and diced potatoes to the pot. Stir to combine and cook for another 3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Pour in Broth

Pour the vegetable broth into the pot. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.

  5. 5

    Add Cream

Once the potatoes are tender, stir in the heavy cream and let it heat through for about 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Oyster Crackers Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Crackers

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, toss the oyster crackers with melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley until evenly coated.

  2. 7

    Bake the Crackers

Spread the coated oyster crackers on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Stir halfway through to ensure even baking.
