Method
Bread Preparation
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, and salt. Mix well. Gradually add water and olive oil, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add more flour as necessary to prevent sticking.
- 3
First Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- 4
Shape the Bread
Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape the dough into your desired form (loaf, round, or baguette).
- 5
Second Rise
Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover it with a cloth and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- 6
Preheat Oven
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 7
Bake the Bread
Once the dough has risen, place it in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack. Serve warm with oil and aged balsamic vinegar for dipping.
