Tart and Topping Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Make the Tart Crust

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk and mix well. Gradually add the flour and mix until the dough comes together. Press the dough into a tart pan evenly across the bottom and up the sides. Prick the bottom with a fork and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Pre-bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the chilled tart crust for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Mascarpone Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Whip the mixture until it thickens and holds soft peaks.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Tart

Once the tart crust is cool, spread the mascarpone filling evenly over the crust. Top with sliced strawberries.

  5. 5

    Add Meringue Bark (Optional)

If using meringue bark, prepare it by whipping egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread into a thin layer on a baking sheet and bake at 200°F (93°C) for 1.5 to 2 hours until dry. Break into pieces and garnish the tart.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish the tart with micro mint leaves and serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.
