Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Bake the Chocolate Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

  4. 4

Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour evenly into the prepared pans.

  5. 5

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans.

  6. 6

    Prepare Strawberry Whipped Cream

In a bowl, beat heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.

  7. 7

    Fold in chopped strawberries gently.

  8. 8

    Make Chocolate Ganache

In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until simmering. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips.

  9. 9

Let sit for a few minutes, then stir until smooth.

  10. 10

    Assemble the Cake

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of strawberry whipped cream on top.

  11. 11

Place the second layer on top and pour ganache over the cake.

  12. 12

Decorate with chocolate curls and dipped strawberries.

  13. 13

    Prepare Dipped Strawberries

Melt milk chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

  14. 14

Dip strawberries in chocolate and let cool on parchment paper.
