Fried Artichoke Hearts

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Artichoke Hearts

Drain and rinse the canned artichoke hearts. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until smooth. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Artichokes

Dip each artichoke heart into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered artichoke hearts into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Place the fried artichoke hearts on a serving platter. Top with crumbled feta cheese. Serve with tzatziki sauce and red pepper harissa sauce on the side. Garnish with frisée lettuce.
