Method

Preparing the Dough

  1. 1

    Mixing the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and instant yeast. Make sure to keep the salt and yeast on opposite sides of the bowl initially to avoid any reaction.

  2. 2

    Adding Water and Olive Oil

Gradually pour in the water and olive oil into the dry ingredients while mixing with your hand or a wooden spoon until the mixture starts to form a dough.

  3. 3

    Kneading the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 5

    Chopping Tomatoes

While the dough is rising, wash and halve the cherry tomatoes.

  2. 6

    Preparing Basil

Rinse the fresh basil leaves and pat them dry with a paper towel.

  3. 7

    Preparing Cheese

Tear the mozzarella cheese into small pieces and set aside.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 8

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. 9

    Shaping the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle or shape of your choice.

  3. 10

    Adding Toppings

Place the shaped dough onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Evenly distribute the halved cherry tomatoes, torn mozzarella pieces, and fresh basil leaves on top of the dough.

  4. 11

    Drizzling Balsamic Glaze

Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the toppings and sprinkle with freshly cracked black pepper to taste.

  5. 12

    Baking

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 13

    Serving

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
