Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted unsalted butter.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Prepare Pans

Grease a round cake pan with butter or non-stick spray. Pour the batter into the pan, filling it about halfway.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cooking Meat

  1. 8

    Cook Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices for about 5-7 minutes, flipping occasionally until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  2. 9

    Cook Sausage

In the same skillet, cook the sausage links according to package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until browned and cooked through. Remove and let cool slightly.

Serving

  1. 10

    Slice and Serve

Slice the cake into silver dollar-sized pieces. Serve with a drizzle of maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, and a side of fresh berries. Add your choice of bacon or sausage on the side.
