Brew 1 cup of strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, mix in coffee liqueur for added flavor.
Prepare Mascarpone Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a large bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

Incorporate Mascarpone
Gently fold in 16 oz of mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.

Whip Cream
In a separate bowl, beat 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and airy.
Assemble Tiramisu

Soak Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer Ingredients
In a 9x9 inch dish, place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chill and Serve

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
