Method
Sandwich
- 1
Prepare garlic butter
In a small bowl, combine softened butter and minced garlic until evenly mixed. Season with 1/8 tsp kosher salt and a small pinch of black pepper. Set aside.
- 2
- 3
Toast roll (optional but recommended)
Place the buttered roll cut-side down in a skillet over medium heat or under a broiler for 1β2 minutes until golden and fragrant. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- 4
Assemble turkey
Lay the thinly sliced smoked turkey on the bottom half of the toasted roll, arranging so it overlaps slightly and covers the bread evenly (about 4 oz). Season turkey lightly with remaining kosher salt and 1/4β1/2 tsp black pepper to taste.
- 5
Add vegetables
Top the turkey with the leaf lettuce, tomato slices (2 slices), and thin red onion slices (3 slices). Ensure even coverage so each bite has a balance of meat and veg.
- 6
Sauce and finish
Drizzle 2 tablespoons of Dodo barbecue sauce over the vegetables (or spread on the top roll if preferred). Place the top half of the roll on the sandwich, press down gently, and cut the sandwich in half if desired.
Optional garnish / serve
- 7
Serve the sandwich with a pickle spear on the side and an additional tablespoon of Dodo barbecue sauce for dipping.
