For the Mozzarella Sticks

Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  2. 2

    Bread the Mozzarella Sticks

Roll each mozzarella stick in the flour, coating it completely. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat the process for all sticks.

  3. 3

    Chill the Breaded Sticks

Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 7

    Sauté the Garlic

Add minced garlic to the saucepan and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 10

    Finish with Parmesan

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese just before serving to enhance the flavor.
