Preparing the Torte
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a medium saucepan, combine the bittersweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Heat over low heat, stirring frequently, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until well combined and slightly frothy.
- 4
- 5
Add Vanilla and Cocoa Powder
Stir in the vanilla extract and cocoa powder until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- 6
Bake the Torte
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- 7
Cool the Torte
Remove the torte from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Carefully invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
