Corn Dog Batter
Fries
Method
Preparing the Corn Dogs
- 1
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well. In another bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Coat the Hot Dogs
Dip each hot dog into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Corn Dogs
Carefully place the coated hot dogs into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain.
Preparing the Fries
- 6
Cut the Potatoes
Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut them into fry shapes, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 7
Soak the Fries
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry.
- 8
- 9
Season
Sprinkle the fries with salt while they are still hot.
