Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges to create triangular chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add a handful of tortilla wedges to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally.

  4. 4

    Drain the Chips

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  5. 5

    Season the Chips

Sprinkle with salt immediately after frying while the chips are still hot.

Salsa

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

Finely chop the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño pepper. Make sure to remove the seeds from the jalapeño for less heat, if desired.

  2. 7

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.

  3. 8

    Season the Salsa

Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture and add salt. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 9

    Chill

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.
